Felixstowe & Walton United FC Academy- The Class of 23/24

New coach joins growing Academy.

The Seasiders unveiled their Academy Class of 23/24 prior to Wednesdays 2-0 win at the AGL Arena against Needham Market in the AOC College League Cup with a squad photo.

The line-up was joined by first team player Sam Ford who the Club are pleased to announce has joined the Academy in a coaching capacity to further enhance the football offering within the programme.

Tony Barnes, Club Chairman commented "As a Community Football Club with players from the Age of 5 through to Semi-professionals playing at Step 4 of the Football Pyramid, I am extremely proud of our fast growing Academy for 16-18 year olds. We have come a long way in just a couple of years and all credit to Rhys, John and Kevin for their sterling efforts, now even more satisfying to see one of our own current senior players getting involved by joining the academy coaching staff.

Hopefully, as a club we will help these boys develop into fine young men with many positive attributes, I know not all will make it but they have every opportunity to be first team heroes for the Seasiders in the years to come and I wish them all every success."
 
Current Academy Director Chris Daynes added "Like many developments at this club in recent years, if you'd have told me a few years ago we would now have a full-time Education & Football Development programme running from the ground, I wouldn't have believed it! To see the squad group line up yesterday was a proud moment for all those involved in setting up the Academy from scratch 3 years ago and is testament to the hard work, recruitment and passion from Rhys Henry (Head of Academy), John Coupe (Head Coach), Kevin Steggles and also former Academy Director Matt Hope who was instrumental in setting up the project. John's other position with the football club as Director of Football Development has further improved the links between the Junior and Senior sections and this has helped in the recruitment of several students into the Academy who have come through the age groups in the Juniors".
