Emirates FA Cup Draw
The Draw for the next round of the Emirates FA Cup has been made...
The Seasiders have been drawn AWAY to either Bowers & Pitsea or Woodford Town in the FA Cup First Qualifying Round on the weekend of Saturday 2nd September. If the scores are level after 90 minutes the tie will go to a replay.
The two sides finished 2-2 on Saturday with the replay scheduled for this Wednesday evening. Woodford found themselves 0-2 down very late on, but goals in the 88th and 95th minutes were enough to force a replay against their higher league opponents. Bowers were relegated from the Isthmian Premier last season to the North Division (we're scheduled to play them at the AGL Arena on 16th September, although that game will be postponed if one of Bowers or Felixstowe make it to the 2nd Qualifying Round on that date). Woodford Town are currently 2nd in the Essex Senior League (Step 5), with 4 wins and a draw from their opening 5 league games. They caused another upset in the Extra Preliminary Round by beating Hertford 4-1.
The winners of the First Qualifying Round tie pick up £2250, on top of the £1444 won in the Preliminary Round. The losers lick their wounds for another year and collect £750 consolation prize money.
Full details including away travel info will be released once the opponent and match date are confirmed.
