Under 7 Development Squad 2017/18

23rd January 2018

5 a side game V Trimley Red Devils.

Saturday 20th January 2018

We played two games in the rain and mud. The first team won their game and the boys played with flair and linked up fantastically, with good communication and lots of passing, the coaches got them to pass the ball so every player got a touch before shooting, and the second game was very much in the same vein.

to be fair to Trimley Red Devils, although the young Seasiders had the better of both games, they kept their heads up and never gave up, a steep learning curve but a great experience for both sides.

After the games their manager had a chat with coach James saying he was hugely impressed with the quality of all of our boys and the way we play. It’s hats off to the Red Devils, a real class act.

There are plans to arrange a return match where hopefully it will be as enjoyable as this was and the scoreline a little closer.

Overall a great start for the boys, long may it continue.

One of our Mums has managed to get the club's under 7’s team included in the Co-op’s green token scheme, which gives them a chance to receive a share of £1,000.

Great news for the youngsters, who play their first game on a ‘full size' pitch on Saturday 20th January.

Coach James Richards was extremely grateful to Sarah Dunne, who investigated the opportunity offered by the Co-op, with sponsorship so hard to get, and would be very pleased to hear from any company who would like to sponsor a fine body of youngsters starting out on the football journey via the Seasiders' youth section.

(The under 7’s first match will be against local opponents, Trimley Red Devils... nothing like starting your football career with an East Coast Derby - it’s only a friendly against the devils, but will be a great experience for the youngsters as they prepare for the coming season!)

The clubs senior side were in the north of the county playing a league fixture at Kirkley & Pakefield, but, they weren’t the only Seasiders in action that evening!

Over the border in Essex the Seasiders Under 7 development squad were having an exciting night of their own.

The boys had been invited to play against the Colchester United ‘Elite’ squad and there was clearly a palpable thrill running through the … Not ONE, but TWO teams as they got ready at the excellent facilities.

There were two games of 15 minutes each way and both the Seasiders teams competed very well, playing some great passing football, plus scoring some fantastic goals against their talented opponents. Not surprisingly the U’s boys won both games but our boys were not outclassed and they came away with heads held high and …… Simply Massive smiles on their faces.

It was a wonderful experience for the boys (and the coaches) and they did both themselves and the club proud.

Well done boys

The future is bright it’s Red & White!
